Why Design?

I am Haley Curry, a junior design student at Auburn University. From a young age, my creativity and thoughtful way of seeing the world became the qualities that defined me most. I often found myself drawing, sketching, and playing games where I had to rearrange and decorate interior spaces. These moments, along with being glued to the TV when my mom flipped to HGTV, blossomed a growing curiosity and passion for design. It was in seventh grade when someone asked me what I wanted to go to college for, and I said Interior Design. Throughout grade school, I gravitated towards courses in art and design, where my creativity could thrive. When it came time to apply for college, my choices came down to architecture, graphic design, and interior design. After much thought I dec that my love for creating graphics and my fascination with architecture both could be incorporated into pursuing an Interior Design degree. Before starting college I knew that I wanted to go into residential design after graduation, but as I have progressed through this prestigious program, it has open my eyes to what the world has to offer. Through my time at Auburn I have not only improved my creative and critical thinking skills, but I have also developed the ability to work proactively in any setting and my love has expanded beyond residential design. Moving forward I hope to continue to creative beautiful spaces that provide functionality, security, and improve the overall wellbeing of the environment.
